When Lottie’s parents moved to Washington from Findley Lake, New York, they settled in Snohomish where Lottie’s father began work in the woods for Morgan Brothers’ Logging Company. The year was 1904 and for a ten hour work day, he received two dollars and fifty cents. Below is a picture of Lottie’s father Philip Swartz, standing left.
